What Can You Expect From Me?

As a Writing Coach, I will help you bring your book to life. Here’s how:

  • Custom Writing Plan: We’ll create a writing plan tailored to your schedule. Typically, we meet in person once a week, with unlimited email and WhatsApp support.

  • Thorough Review: I’ll read through all of your text with you multiple times to ensure accuracy and quality.

  • Collaborative Process: Together, we’ll find a designer, printer, and editor for your text, where necessary.

  • Multilingual Assistance: I can help you create titles in English, Spanish, and Papiamentu.

  • Briefing Creation: We’ll work together to create a detailed brief for both the designer and printer to ensure everything aligns with your vision.

  • Publishing Guidance: I’ll guide you through the steps of publishing your book or take care of certain tasks for you, as needed.

  • Launch Plan: We will develop a launch strategy, putting together your “Dream Team” to introduce your book to the public.

  • Media Exposure: We’ll plan radio and TV appearances to spotlight your book, aiming for at least 10 media placements.

  • Long-Term Sales Strategy: We’ll devise a sales plan together. I typically plan 12-20 activities over two years to help sell your book effectively. For children’s books, we can organize reading events at bookstores, libraries, and schools, as well as parent meet-ups. We’ve already discussed this.

  • Personal Coaching: I’ll support you when things feel overwhelming and help you avoid common mistakes, such as overcomplicating your launch and increasing unnecessary costs. Your Dream Team of around 15 people will work with me to ensure the launch goes smoothly.

  • Open Communication: You can reach out to me anytime with questions or concerns. I will answer your WhatsApp messages quickly, set up Zoom meetings for more complex questions, and respond to your emails. You have unlimited email communication with me, and I’ll always be available to support you throughout the process.

  • PR Materials: Per book, I typically create promotional materials like book promos, Facebook banners, Instagram banners, Zoom banners, and flyers/posters—whatever you need. We’ll discuss this further.

  • Writing and Editing: In the early stages, we’ll primarily focus on reading, rewriting, and editing. We’ll ensure the content matches the appropriate age group and writing level. This can take about a month, though it may be faster.

  • Timeline: Please note that a book typically takes three months to complete. For a set of four books, the process will take about a year, but it can be faster if you dedicate more time to it. We aim to complete the process within a maximum of 12 months, leaving room for breaks and vacations. Ideally, we’ll finish in six months, but it may extend to a year depending on circumstances like illness or holidays.

My Expertise:

My strength lies in structural editing. We’ll review the book to ensure it has the right tension, is age-appropriate, has a strong ending, and aligns with cultural expectations. We’ll also make sure the book resonates with the Bonaire audience.

Research:

We’ll look at other books in your genre and do price comparisons to position your book effectively.

Printing Advice:

In the Antilles, many people use local printers, but this is not recommended. Books produced locally may lack professional layout and expert guidance on paper types, covers, and more, which can lead to disappointment. I prefer to publish a book on a big platform which carry your book for ever and use Printing on Demand services. Each time a client order a book they print it. their is no need for having boxes of books in your home or trunck.

Starting the Process:

In most cases, we can begin within two weeks, meaning you could have a book on the market this year.

Publishing Options:

You won’t need to find a separate publisher. I publish through Amazon or Ingram. For the Antilles, I recommend Ingram (based in England) because it offers the cheapest shipping to the islands. I also provide assistance in setting up your own publishing house for future self-publishing. You can even give a family member or friend power of attorney in case something happens to you.

Once established, you will be able to publish your book yourself. In our intake session, we’ll decide if this option is right for you or if my foundation, SSIM Publishing, will handle it for you (at no extra cost). You will always remain the owner of your books.

Metadata:

This is crucial. Together, we will create book metadata, which contains all the information about your publication recorded in bibliographic databases (libraries, booksellers, etc.). It’s essential for making your book discoverable. I’ll provide your book with a unique ISBN number and register it in Bowker to protect your copyright and enable online sales.

Without proper metadata, a book may not be discoverable by readers, affecting its sales. Good metadata is key to making your book successful.

Metadata Includes:

  • Title
  • ISBN
  • Author
  • Format (e-book, paperback, etc.)
  • Publication status
  • BISAC codes (these categorize your book’s genre, which I will explain)
  • Description
  • Publication date
  • Sales regions
  • Page count
  • Audiobook running time (if applicable)
  • Back size
  • Book weight
  • Trim size
  • Table of contents
  • Excerpts
  • Professional reviews/endorsements
  • Keywords
  • Related titles
  • Age and grade levels

Author CV:

Lastly, we will put together a professional Author CV for media appearances (radio and TV). I recommend a professional headshot, complete with hair and makeup, especially if you plan to launch a website. My team can handle this for $950, including video content if desired.

International Sales:

Your book will be available globally through Amazon in the USA, Canada, Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, Australia, and many other countries. Since your book is multilingual, you can reach readers in Spain and beyond. I will teach you how to manage your Amazon sales.

In addition to Amazon, your book will be sold through Barnes & Noble, Bol.comFollett Corporation, Readerlink Distribution Services, Bookazine and other retailers

Why I Use Ingram:

After publishing nearly 200 books, I’ve found Ingram to be the best option. Their international shipping is much cheaper than Amazon’s, and they support printing in small languages and dialects, like Papiamentu. I used to rely on Amazon’s print-on-demand services, but when they stopped printing in smaller languages, we had to work with two separate companies, which made the process longer for authors—English books with one company and other language books with another. Ingram simplifies this by handling everything in one place, making it the best option for both of us internationally.

What I Do Not Do:

I do not personally design, do printing, do grammar correction, or plan marketing strategies. We will outsource these tasks to my trusted team. Together, we’ll choose your designer, review prices, and approve visuals. Grammatical editing will also be outsourced, and once the book is ready, we’ll send it to a printer or publisher.

Basic requirements:

The coachee must possesses a functional laptop equipped with either MS-WORD or Google Docs. The coachee will have to download and install the Zoom application to facilitate one-on-one sessions. Alternative platforms such as Teams or Skype may also be considered (It is essential that real-time document sharing is possible).

Thank you for choosing Saved to Serve publishing house. Together, we can turn words into wonders.

Kind regards,
Coach Luisette
